The eight-storey New Iloilo City Hall is considered a lucky building, according to its project engineer.
This was the assessment of Victor Facultad, executive assistant for special affairs of Mayor Jed Patrick E. Mabilog, referring to the works conducted by Pacific Orient Consultants and Management Corp. and FF Cruz- Freyssinet Filipinas Joint Venture on the high-rise edifice.
“The New City Hall is a lucky building because we have not encountered any major accident during the construction works of a structure of such proportion we had undertaken in other areas all over the country,” Facultad said quoting a project engineer.
The modern structure is equipped with three elevators, centralized air-conditioning system, generator sets, CCTV security camera, vinyl-tiled floors and big windows that maximize daylight and minimize use of fluorescent lights, thus energy-saving.
The “green building” also features rainwater harvesting and waste-water treatment facilities.
There are also planned cafeteria and bank inside the building for the convenience of transacting public.
Meanwhile, Mabilog said the City Mayor’s Office particularly the Permits and Licensing Division will continue to hold office at third floor of Robinsons Place for the convenience of public in processing their business permits renewal to beat the Jan. 20 deadline.
Several departments have already started operating in the New City Hall including City Planning, City Registrar, City Health, City Population, City DILG, Public Employment Service Office (PESO), Human Resource Management Office (HRMO), and Traffic Regulation and Transport Management Office (TMTRO).
