Ilonggo netizens are enjoined in making Iloilo first in the Top Cities in the Philippines.
The metropolis has made it to Top 1 as of Wednesday in favorite list of online poll website www.the-top-tens.com.
Fans, friends and followers may click www.the-top-tens.com/lists/top-cities-philippines.asp and choose Iloilo City in the fave list.
Mayor Jed Patrick E. Mabilog encouraged Ilonggos to cooperate and work together to help achieve the vision of becoming a Premier City by 2015.
Online enthusiasts described Iloilo as the City of Love and “home of the sweetest Filipinos!”
“I can walk through its streets and wave my phone as no one would try to steal it. Talking with the Ilonggos is the sweetest thing – most of them are educated and rich!” one commenter said.
“Iloilo is an emerging metropolitan city in the Philippines with people who have genuine smiles on their faces and a love for nature that’s recognized globally,” another may have been inspired by the success of the recent 1st Philippine International River Summit which the city sets trend in global environmental protection.
“Now that it has an international airport, there’s no stopping in growth and development!” another stressed. The Iloilo Airport has been pushed as an international gateway with planned direct flights to Hong Kong and Singapore in October.
Iloilo is touted as “probably the most beautiful city – beautiful mansions, beautiful jeepneys, beautiful river, and best tasting foods – recipes that captured its visitors.”
“A city with heritage that won’t be forgotten – instead will be preserved. It has diverse attractions – century-old churches, food, adventures, etc. – all rolled in one place. And of course, a festival capital – home to famous Dinagyang,” supporters affirmed.
Iloilo City is an educational center of the region and “soon will be the home of the biggest IT park in the Philippines!”
The soon-to-rise 54-hectare Iloilo Business Park by Megaworld Corp. in old airport property in Mandurriao district is envisioned to become the largest IT hub and longest shopping and dining strip in the country.
