Heritage pilgrimage event Angat Kabataan 2012 is set to gather in Iloilo City May 1-5 over a hundred youth leaders throughout the country as initiated by the Society of Ecclesiastical Archivists of the Philippines.
A tour around Iloilo’s historical sites will be a major part of the “heritage pilgrimage” visiting the Archdiocese of Jaro and University of San Agustin in the metropolis and Miag-ao and San Joaquin in southern part of the province.
Jaro Cathedral is a declared national pilgrimage site by the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines (CBCP).
A private Catholic educational institution established in 1904, the University of San Agustin is the first in Western Visayas.
Miag-ao Church is a declared World Heritage Site by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO).
