No if’s but all bats.

When in Island Garden City of Samal, Davao, don’t think twice but heads up to the trivial Monfort Bat Colony.

Situated at Barangay Tambo, Babak District, the cave sanctuary holds the Guinness World Record for the Largest Colony of Geoffrey’s Rousette Fruit Bats recognized in Feb. 1, 2010.

The Monfort Cave is home to some 1.8 million bats per estimates of the Bat Conservation International in 2006.

Visitors are not allowed to enter the cave and are only guided around bamboo rails which cordon the area and serve as viewing stand. They are also advised to refrain from making loud laughs and shouts so as not to disturb or awaken the nocturnal creatures in deep sleep during the day.

The cave emits a musky ammonia smell due to bat poop or guano and the foul gas is flammable, thus smoking is strictly prohibited within the property.
