Beadworks: Now filming in Iloilo…coming soon in Davao showing in June!

Cameras have started to roll in Iloilo as Ilonggos train their foresights on full-length filmmaking.

“We have bright future ahead if we can revive and achieve the Ilonggo Dream of making Iloilo as the filmmaking capital of the Visayas,” stressed emerging Ilonggo filmmaker Ronny Poblacion.

Janiuay-born Poblacion is one of the finalists of First Sineng Pambansa (National Cinema) Competition of the Film Development Council of the Philippines (FDCP) slated in Davao City in June 2012.

Poblacion’s Beadworks, along with Dumangas-born Peter Solis Nery’s Gugma sa Panahon sang Bakunawa and John Raymund Macahilas’ Ang Mga Aswang are finalists in the Visayas Division for full-length feature category.

So how do the Ilonggos fare in major filmmaking?

“There are lots of potential production crew since MassCom and advertising schools are strongly encouraging their students to be into filmmaking by joining short film competitions. They are truly effective performers,” Poblacion said.
