Good news to aspiring actors!
The search is on for the lead actors in Peter Solis Nery’s Ilonggo film “GUGMA SA PANAHON SANG BAKUNAWA” (“Love in the Time of the Bacunaua”) which will start shooting in Iloilo and Guimaras next month.
Selected as a finalist of the First Sineng Pambansa National Film Competition, “Gugma…” is a dramatic love story about a loveless and struggling musician who comes home to Isla Pulang Pasayan to discover that the Bacunaua Festival that his grandmother “invented” may yet provide the background for finding his own success in love and career.
The three lead roles for audition are those of Matt, who needs a kind face, and can sing very well (think Josh Groban); Dulce, who figures in a love scene and a scene of domestic violence; and Emilio, who only needs to be a hunk with lustful looks. Ages 21-33 only.
Actors are also needed for secondary roles of Lola Mercedes, who needs to read/tell a bedtime story (ages 50-75 only); and teenage Matt (ages 13-20) and child Matt (ages 7-13), who can sing the “Ave Maria.”
Online applications and interviews are currently going on. Friend request “Peter Solis Nery,” or search for the page LOVE IN THE TIME OF THE BACUNAUA on Facebook.
The film will compete in the national film festival in Davao in June 2012, and may enjoy a nationwide release this year. (Peter Solis Nery)
