To surpass last year’s well-attended Sponsors Mardi Gras Parade, the Iloilo Dinagyang Festival 2012 will once again organize a grander, more colorful parade on Jan. 21 at 2PM which will commence at the Freedom Grandstand.
The Mardi Gras is a lively and exciting street parade with rhythmic dances performed by costumed dancers, accompanied by musical bands and colorful floats.
Participating groups will assemble at Mapa Street. A brief opening ceremony at the Freedom Grandstand will kick off the parade.
From Freedom Grandstand, the parade will traverse J.M. Basa Street, Iznart Street, Gen. Luna Street, Quezon Street and end at the corner of Quezon Street and Ledesma Street.
The following groups will participate in the parade: business corporations and companies, local government units (including barangays), tertiary schools, civic clubs and associations, civil society organizations and fraternities and sororities.
Major Dinagyang sponsors are once again expected to show off their beautiful floats and muses.
Awards await the best participating groups including Best Float, Best Music, Best Costume, Best Street Dance and Crowds Favorite.
Each winner will receive a Dinagyang Trophy during the awarding ceremonies in the evening of Jan. 22 at the Freedom Grandstand.
